Well as you all know Alexis Yorley has won our contest. We were all blown away how real and well written Lexi's entry was. So without having to say to much....here is the winning entry and her photo she had with it. We will be posting more photos of Lex with her gear pack soon.
My dream vacation would be a place where the people are welcoming and the sun is warm. A place where you can wake up, take a deep breath, and feel alive. Somewhere that reminds you that the world is still beautiful. Somewhere far away, with a big, blue ocean that the sun sets over, where you can move freely with the waves on your surfboard. Somewhere where the people look out for you, and have the kind of heart that would allow them to laugh playfully when you cut them off a wave. People who will splash, sing, and smile. People who can start a conversation and carry it on until their voice becomes a clear memory in your head. I want to go on a vacation that isn’t a vacation to most. I want to sleep in a tent, I want to come with nothing, but my board, a hoodie, and an endless amount of swim suits. I want to go out at night and roam around the town aimlessly. I want to look at the stars, hear the sea, and touch the land. I want to meet people I will never forget, do stupid things, make mistakes, and fall in love. And, when I leave, if I ever do, not only do I want to miss this place, but I want to miss the person I became while I was there. My dream vacation is not a place I’m aware of. I don’t want to talk about Fiji. I don’t want to talk about Australia, Nicaragua, or Hawaii. I don’t want to plan this trip out. I want to come across it one day, and take it in, and realize how beautiful the world really is. To me, that is the ultimate vacation.
